STR Turkey hold a seminar in Denizli on February 20th, 2003. In this seminar, we presented the importance of toxicological measurements in textiles and leathers as well as changes in laws on exporting these kind of products to E.U. In addition to that, physical, stability and colorfastness tests were discussed. Another issue covered during the seminar was the necessity of inspection and audit services.
The Commission of European Communities adopts the "COMMON POSITION (EC) No 31/2002" relating to restrictions on the marketing and use of certain azo dyestuffs. The aim of Commission Directive is to ban to use and market textile and leather articles with certain azo dyes. Accordingly, these kind of textile and leather articles may release aril amines which cause cancer. To protect human health, the usage of dangerous azo dyes and placing the products dyed by these azo dyes in the markets is banned as of December 31th, 2003.
